Scouts are split on where he should be drafted, but the first round is in play given how his long-term potential as a lead guard stacks up with his peers. If he’s willing to be stashed overseas next year, it seems more likely he goes in the top 30, but he’s said publicly he wants to come over to the NBA. It’s possible he ends up somewhere in the 20s.Players who do not meet the criteria for "international" players are automatically eligible if they meet any of the following criteria: It's a guard-heavy draft, with as many as a dozen point guards going in the first round. And the Warriors are on the clock in our latest mock draft. The Crossover's Front Office dishes the latest projections. Holiday statistically put up one of the best seasons UCLA had seen in the past 30 years. Great lead guard athleticism and decision-making. The Bucks have been a successful franchise in plucking talent from uncommon places in recent seasons. Adding Holiday is a seemingly small move that could pay off within three years. I think he can give you 15 quality minutes in the playoffs tomorrow.

Widespread belief among industry insiders is that he won't fall past 11. Philadelphia makes sense here, as Knox would be an ideal 3 to play opposite Ben Simmons. He's not great at creating his own shot, but Knox is someone whose game should translate to double digit scoring in the pros. He's also young (won't turn 19 for a few months). It may take him three or four years to click, but scouts think that when he gets it, he could flirt with All-Star quality.

Okogie moved into the first-round discussion after the combine, turning heads with his athleticism, aggressive attacking and flashes of perimeter scoring. He was ultimately overlooked during the season while playing for a weak Georgia Tech team.Third-youngest player in this draft. An unknown for most NBA and college fans, as Oregon took a big step back last season and wasn't in the NCAA Tournament. Brown's a classic case of a five-star guy coming out of high school, testing well in the evaluation period for scouts and taking full advantage of his potential. Indiana could use him in spot duty and take a flier on him.
As noted above, Bamba could go much higher than this; his window opens with Dallas at five. It’s hard to see him slipping past Chicago here, even though the Bulls have been linked with Porter during the last few weeks (they have a long and strong relationship with Porter’s agent, Chicago-based Mark Bartelstein, and their doctors were the ones that examined Porter in Chicago. They don’t know any more about Porter’s back than other teams as a result, but the arrangement speaks to the trust the two sides have with one another). But Bamba’s defensive chops—second in the country in blocked shots per game (3.7), fourth nationally in total blocks (111), 12th in rebounds per game and Defensive Rating—are just too good for a Bulls team that hemorrhaged points last season (their Defensive Rating of 109.1 was 28th in the league) and was next to invisible protecting the front of the rim (DFL in blocks per game, 3.5).Mikal Bridges will make the New York Knicks think, but with management preaching patience and Kristaps Porzingis possibly out for the year, the front office will pass on the more NBA-ready player for the 18-year-old upside pick.
Slender shooting guard from the Ukraine who's only 18 and is obviously a draft-and-stash here. Expect a few of those, per usual. The Hawks are in the best possible position in this year’s Draft (if they stay here); they’re certain to get one of the top three players on the board without lifting a finger. Bagley should be able to score and rebound immediately (Atlanta checked in 25th in rebounds per game this past season) and help John Collins and Taurean Prince up front. The Hawks are strong favorite to move one or both of their other firsts (19th and 30th) and could move all over the board, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that they could move down a couple of spots from three and garner another future first or young player if someone else wants this pick bad enough. But the Hawks are in no hurry. To move out of three would have to bring back a young player with upside and a potential Lottery pick in 2019. Eliminate all that tsuris and go for the 6-9 Bagley. You think Thibs could get behind a guy who was Defensive Player of the Year in the Big East this season after being co-DOPY as a sophomore? Thomas is a fierce, next play competitor at the two who stayed at around 40 percent on threes as a junior, while tripling the number of attempts he shot from his freshman season. The Wolves could definitely use some firepower coming off the bench with Jamal Crawford expected to opt out of the last year of his deal and explore free agency. Thomas could handle that and likely more early in his career. I've got Okobo higher than many, because recent trends suggest we won't get to 24 or 25 without at least a second international player taken. Utah has space to fill here, as Okobo can play combo guard. Perception is that his stock has steadily increased over the past two months. While the Pacers could use a young big to play behind Myles Turner and/or Domantas Sabonis, they also don’t have a long-term answer at the point after this season; both incumbent Darren Collison and Cory Joseph are up after 2018-19. The 20-year-old Okobo emerged for Pau in the French Pro A League last year, leading the team in scoring and assists, and gave his calling card in last month’s French League playoffs, dropping 44 points against Monaco, one point short of the all-time record. He is not a finished product by any means but a year of interning behind Collison and Joseph would help him make the transition to the NBA quickly, and give Indiana a potential backcourt mate for Victor Oladipo for the next few years.

. But if they think they have any chance of keeping James—which they won’t likely know for sure on Draft night—and keep the pick, it would make sense to take Carter, who anchored the back of Duke’s zone defense as a freshman. There’s no guarantee he’ll be able to guard in space or on switches. But there’s a reason he’s been compared by many to Al Horford; he has a real knack for big plays at big moments, he was a rock playing next to a more flamboyant teammate (Joakim Noah 10 years ago with Horford at Florida; Bagley with Carter at Duke) and he’s tougher than people realize. Carter’s game could play next to Tristan Thompson’s and he should rebound immediately at the next level. Cleveland was wowed by Sexton as well, and they could use a young, dynamic point guard—so nothing, including the Cavs moving up to make sure they get one, would surprise. 27 May 2020 00:07:00,post received 0 comments With Jamal Crawford likely to leave in free agency, the Timberwolves could target DiVincenzo for offense and energy off the bench. Thrived at Duke but was overshadowed by Bagley and, to an extent, Grayson Allen's general stardom. Carter (13.5 ppg, 9.1 rpg) is never going to be the A option on a team, but you're not looking to get that at No. 8. Carter's, honestly, one of the strongest prospects in the eight spot in many years. Good scorer, willing distributor, and can pass on the perimeter or out of the paint. Mature player. Cleveland's in a tough spot with LeBron's looming decision. Carter would be the right pick no matter what James winds up doing. With the 2018 NBA Draft order now set, mock draft season is upon us. Who do the experts have headed to Philadelphia at No. 10? Bridges is an easy player to slot on almost any NBA roster, thanks to his multipositional defensive versatility, 3-point shooting and role-player potential Kevin Knox would give the Knicks a scorer from either forward spot. Melton hasn't played competitive basketball in more than a year; he sat out 2017-18 due to being associated with the FBI's investigation into college basketball. Yet as a freshman he posted 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. He was a stud, and his well-rounded numbers didn't do him enough justice. I think he becomes a surprisingly high first round pick. With the college basketball season tipping off, all eyes shift to the future stars of the NBA. The Crossover's Jeremy Woo breaks down his top five NBA draft prospects Should Brown slip to the second round, he could end up as a major steal. He was viewed as a potential mid-first rounder coming into the year, before poor three-point shooting and a season-ending injury hurt his stock. He’d be a strong choice for a team that wants to compete immediately and should be able to plug-and-play as a defensive-minded reserve. If Brown figures out his shooting woes to a passable degree, he should end up being more than that. With the 2018 NBA draft a mere two days away, most interviews and individuals workouts have been completed. He's more excited for former teammate Mikal Bridges to be picked than himself, it seems. But he got a green room invite. Something to keep in mind: What position will he play? Not that the NBA dictates position necessities in the traditional sense now, but he's clearly not equipped to run an NBA offense at this stage. He's athletic but still undersized against many NBA 2s. Regular readers know the reasoning behind my reluctance to do mock drafts. (I was happy, on Tony Kornheiser’s old radio show, to do the “Doc Draft,” where we picked our favorite doctors, real and/or fictional in a one-round draft. I had the number one pick and, it being the late ‘90s, took Dr. Susan Lewis from “ER,” in whom I saw great, uh, potential, and explained why and how she would dominate the ER in my best Mel Kiper, Jr., voice.)Players who meet the criteria for "international" players are automatically eligible if they meet any of the following criteria:

Now Los Angeles has it. Spellman would be a nice get for the Lakers -- if he's still hanging around at this point. Graham will enter the NBA as a readymade backup point guard after being thoroughly tested at Kansas. He plays both ends, can shoot open threes, but struggles to get into the paint and finish and is already 23. There’s not a ton of upside with him, but he might be able to help a team next season.
The Clippers need a point guard, and they'll take the best one to fall to them at No. 12. He isn't in this mock, though, so we'll give them Carter.. The Big Ten Player of the Year, Bates-Diop has evolved into a versatile scorer with a three-point shot and post game. Defensive inconsistency, a lack of explosiveness, a previous leg injury and age (22) are his big drawbacks.
One day before the official NBA draft, it feels like the top 10 can still fall any number of ways. Some see him as a basketball savant, others see him as a productive distributor but a below-average defender. USA TODAY Sports canvassed league executives ahead of its final mock draft before.. Atlanta could look at Jaren Jackson Jr. or Mohamed Bamba here, but signs are starting to point to Doncic, the draft's most proven prospect.
Houston can always use more shooters, and Shamet can certainly do that. While he’s not a superior athlete, he has some size, can play on or off the ball and should be able to space the floor adequately. Concerns about his athleticism and defense make him a likely second-rounder.On a quest to become the second-ever NBA player from Iceland, it seems like Hlinason will hear his name called after choosing to remain in the draft. A surprisingly mobile 7-footer, he’s a long shot to become an NBA contributor but is young enough that he’s worth stashing overseas for a team with extra picks like the Sixers. CNBC is the world leader in business news and real-time financial market coverage. Find fast, actionable information The Slovenian's achievements and credentials are undeniable. Doncic is considered by many scouts to be the most pro-ready prospect in this class, due in good part to the fact he was outstanding for two-plus years playing in Europe. He recently became the youngest player ever to earn MVP in EuroLeague. He's coming off a season that would be akin to a college player winning National Player of the Year and Final Four MOP on the way to winning a championship. Atlanta has slipped in recent years, after flirting with becoming a top-three team in the Eastern Conference, and so drafting Doncic could give the franchise a preternaturally gifted talent that could be the key building block for the next four years.
Ball-control small forward who's 6-9 and is going to wind up on a roster one way or another eventually. The Philadelphia 76ers can add another three-and-D player in Mikal Bridges to slot alongside Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and presumably Markelle Fultz.
College basketball is back, and with that, we can begin evaluating the 2018 NBA draft class in earnest. At the beginning of the process, this draft appears to be unique in that We'll be doing these mock drafts all season long. It will be fun to see how much this projection changes throughout the year The NBA has since expanded the draft combine to include players with remaining college eligibility (who, like players without college eligibility, can only attend by invitation). The Nuggets have existing and/or emerging answers on their roster everywhere but the three. Bridges fixes that; when you’re first team all Big 10, second team all-America and a finalist for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year award, your chops speak for themselves. Bridges could well toggle between forward spots in the pros—he might struggle initially guarding threes in space—but he’s another tough kid from Flint who got even tougher playing for Tom Izzo. And, he got better—Bridges went from a 69 percent free throw shooter as a freshman at Michigan State to an 85 percent shooter as a sophomore. He’ll fit right in with the run and gun Nuggets and give Mike Malone even more flexibility with lineups, which will come in handy if Denver can’t re-sign Will Barton. The 2018 NBA Draft is considered a deep, talented draft, particularly for big men. To get an idea of how it may play out, we surveyed experts' mock Experts around the NBA think this year's draft is even more unpredictable than past years, with several teams open to trading up or down, and an.. There are still teams willing to take fliers on Duval after a down year at Duke, and he does have big-time athleticism and defensive potential. His jump shot might be broken, though, and his decision-making skills are somewhat lacking. Those things will likely drive him into the early to mid second round.
Graham eventually figures to receive a chance as a backup, as he's valued for his pick-and-roll play and shooting. Already 23 years old, he lacks any degree of upside. It's reasonable to expect a Shabazz Napier-like career trajectory. Kurucs has drawn attention through the eye test for his positional tools, shooting stroke and slashing. However, teams haven't seen him play much over the past two seasons, as his minutes have been limited in the Spanish ACB. I originally had Kurcus going to Philly at 39. With the trade on the board, I want to keep him in the sam area. Brooklyn it is. The Nuggets scout Europe as well as any team and have stashed an international second-rounder in each of the last four drafts. Kulboka has size, a smooth three-point stroke and isn’t a bad athlete, and at this end stage of the draft should warrant a selection. He needs to get stronger and expand his secondary skills to have a chance at contributing in the NBA.
Bridges may not have star potential, but he'll rightfully be in really high demand at the top of the 2018 draft. You can make a pretty strong case that this would be the case if an NBA team drafted Mikal Bridges, a 6'7 wing who has flown up draft boards over the course of the 2017-18 college basketball.. Evans should draw first-round looks for his NBA body, toughness and versatility at both ends. However, he'll likely fall to the 30s since he lacks a convincing speciality skill.Opinions vary on Alkins, who at his best is a top-30 player in this year's crop. Problem is, he fails to show his best too frequently. An 18-year-old point forward, Bonga is interesting for his long-term potential, as he's a big who can handle the ball and facilitate. He just won't be ready anytime soon. Two, trades that are not disclosed before the Draft, or trades that don’t come together until after the Draft begins, aren’t known to me when I start making these imaginary picks.
Spellman needs to get in better shape, but is a highly intelligent player with a long frame and deceptive athleticism who has a chance to find an NBA home in the right situation. The draft’s perceived drop-off in role player talent happens somewhere in this range, depending who you ask. Mailbag! Basketball Insiders | NBA Rumors And Basketball News. NBA Daily: 2018 NBA Mock Draft - 3/13/18. For the last seven weeks, four of Basketball Insiders' top writers have been breaking down the latest news and notes surrounding the 2019 NBA Draft, here is their final look at all 60 picks If you’re already a draft diehard, you’re in the right place. If you’re an NBA fan looking for an entry point into the world of college hoops—or a college fan searching for the scoop on your school’s top prospects, look no further. The draft is June 21 and closing in quickly.Although Diallo’s star has largely dimmed from a national perspective, he remains in the mix for a late first-round selection and should wind up going somewhere in the 30s based on his immense athletic talent and untapped potential. He’s still a couple years off from being ready for the NBA, but there’s little to no risk involved in this part of the draft, and teams love to hedge upside. He’d be a nice pickup for Orlando on the cheap here.Teams look at Smith through the long-term projection lens. He's limited off the dribble, but he just turned 19 years old earlier this month. He's one of the draft's top athletes and defenders, and he shot 18-of-40 from deep during his lone season at Texas Tech. This pick could certainly be moved/sold by Phoenix to one of the teams without a first-rounder looking to get into the mix. But if the Suns keep it, Bates-Diop would make a lot of sense here. KBD is viewed as a jack of all trades but master of none by many NBA types. That may be true. But he’s a long one; his 7’-3.25” wingspan was easily tops among all guards and forwards at the combine. He made a huge leap his junior season for the Buckeyes, winning Big 10 Player of the Year honors, punishing conference opponents left and right, and learned extensively about playing at the next level from assistant coach Chris Jent, the longtime Cavaliers assistant who is now on Lloyd Pierce’s staff in Atlanta. In the multi-positional modern NBA, Bates-Diop will be a boon to any team with his potential as a switcher on pick and rolls. KBD also comes from a rock-solid family; he’d fit right in as the Suns continue to re-establish a winning culture, and give new coach Igor Kokoskov his own multi-positional switching group to throw at the likes of the Dubs and Rockets, with Bates-Diop joining Josh Jackson and T.J. Warren—presumably, with Ayton—trapping and funneling everything and everyone to the big man.
NBANBA Mock Draft 8.0: What if Kings pass on Doncic? The NBA draft is two weeks away and the buzz on international prospect Luka Doncic's landing spot is heating up. The Front Office provides all the latest news, intel and projections as the 2018 draft approaches. If Brunson is available here, Brooklyn needs to pick him, and I means needs. There will be other prospects that are tempting, or more athletic, or more skilled in certain ways. Brunson is going to be the best basketball player available on the board at this spot. Brooklyn's a terrible team. Start the turnaround here and take someone who's going to last in the league for at least a decade. I've been told a couple of teams have been won over by Williams, despite him being 23. That's refreshing to hear. He had no offers out of high school to a D-I program.
Giannis’s younger brother (obviously) seems likely to be drafted in the second round, with the added factor that he can play overseas to develop for a couple years given his Greek passport if he agrees to it. He has serious athletic tools, but a highly questionable feel for the game that limits his upside. Here is our draft day 2018 NBA Mock Draft. Draft order is based after the regular season and after the draft lottery drawing. Team needs and draft tendencies Profiles, stats and videos for almost every player in our two round mock so far, with more updates coming. Mock Draft - 1st round | 2nd round Here is my official 2018 NBA Mock Draft. Much of this is based off of my opinion of the specific team needs / the potential of the player being drafted This pick will be dependent on what direction the Sixers take at No. 10, but it’s fair to assume they address the perimeter if they keep it, then look elsewhere at this spot. It’s wholly unclear what happens with Robinson at this stage, but on raw ability most scouts believe he should be a first-rounder. He has the ability to become a force as a rim-running, shot-blocking center, but there are major questionmarks surrounding his decision to skip college basketball, how much skill he can actually develop and how much of his natural talent he’ll be able to access on a consistent basis. Teams will have to feel comfortable assuming the risk, and it’s still possible he falls to the second round. Robinson may have the widest range of any player available, but is absolutely worth a flier here.

Clark is one of the few prospects capable of being drafted after not receiving an invite to the NBA combine. He'll turn 24 years old in November, but he was unquestionably one of the bigger impact bigs in college basketball.Compared to Young and Sexton, Gilgeous-Alexander is at least four inches taller and longer than both. He'd give Charlotte a passer first, but also a crafty scorer and versatile defender who has reminded scouts of the pre-injury version of Shaun Livingston.
Thomas has a shot at landing in the late first round if a team is sold on his defense and shooting. He probably won’t slip any further than this range, but this serves to illustrate the depth of this draft, particularly in terms of backcourt players expected to be available between picks 25 and 45.Players who are not automatically eligible have to declare their eligibility for the draft by notifying the NBA offices in writing no later than 60 days before the draft. For the 2018 draft, the date fell on April 22. After that date, "early entry" players are able to attend NBA pre-draft camps and individual team workouts to show off their skills and obtain feedback regarding their draft positions. Under the CBA a player may withdraw his name from consideration from the draft at any time before the final declaration date, which is 10 days before the draft. Under current NCAA rules, players had until May 30 (10 days after the draft combine) to withdraw from the draft and retain college eligibility. Check my sit-down with Bagley here. (It got interesting.) I've been consistently pushing for Bagley to stay in the No. 1 conversation over the past three months. Going second seems like the play here, as Sacramento snagged Bagley in for a workout and has needs at his position. Don't forget: He was historically great (by freshman standards) at Duke. I will stick with Bagley here because I think he's the best option overall. Though as we hit draft day, scuttlebutt has Luka Doncic, Michael Porter Jr. and Jaren Jackson all in play. The Warriors seems likely to draft a wing after getting strong results out of Quinn Cook at backup point guard, coupled with Patrick McCaw being a restricted free agent and Jordan Bell and Damian Jones under contract as young frontcourt pieces. Allen is the kind of readymade bench guy the Warriors would covet if available, and his shooting ability, toughness and experience level all make sense with their system. He’s not a point guard, but can spend a little bit of time on the ball and should be athletic enough to be decent defensively. Allen feels like a lock for the first round at this point, and is a clean fit here if he gets this far.
Holiday is tailored to lead a second unit, as he excels using ball screens and spotting up and has the moxie to help overcome his lack of size on the defensive end. Although Holiday doesn’t have star upside, he doesn’t have many holes in his game either, and having two successful brothers in the NBA will help him from a background standpoint. The Pacers have no long-term answer at point guard on the roster, and Holiday can be groomed for a rotation role as Darren Collison and Cory Joseph play out their contracts. He will have to fight hard to overcome his lack of size on the defensive end. Although Holiday doesn’t have star upside, he doesn’t have many holes in his game either, and having two successful brothers in the NBA will help him from background standpoint. It’s now widely known Hutchison has secured a first-round promise of his own, as we first reported following his decision to pull out of the draft combine.
